[Letter] 1853 Sept. 30 to Jhn. A. Broadus / Jas. L. Jones. 1853.

Concerning the birth of Broadus's second child, Annie Harrison: "If it is not too late, allow me to congratulate you and your better half [Maria Carter Broadus], upon the addition to your little family, in the shape of a boy (I hope). Baynham told me there was something, he did not not know what; being a modest old bachelor, this arrival prevented him from visiting you, as he was anxious to do; he is one of your warmest admirers and regretted very much he could not see more of you. Hope the Madam and little one are doing very well. How does Lida [Eliza Somerville Broadus] like it?"
